Star Wars Outlaws LEGO MOC, 2025
As far as I know, this is the only LEGO MOC of the R93 Refractor in existence. The engineering challenge is why.
The R93 is a Rokana Raiders starfighter from the Star Wars Outlaws expansion, and its defining feature is a dual-rotating wing system with three distinct configurations. Getting those three modes to work physically in LEGO, at a scale that holds together under handling, required hours of in-game photo mode reference and a design built almost entirely around Technic turntables and interlocking pins and axles. The wings are large and the turntables have no resistance, which means the structure had to be engineered to stay put rather than relying on friction.
The result is a build with real mechanical function. The wings rotate between docked mode (both wings vertical, side by side), scout mode (large wing rotated down for takeoff, all three engines active), and assault mode (both wings horizontal, power diverted from the side engines to the extra cannons). In assault mode the ship spans 17 inches across. In docked mode it stands 13 inches tall. SNOT techniques throughout handle the rounded fuselage shape that would be impossible to approximate any other way.
