In a galaxy filled with sleek starfighters, it’s easy to overlook the more utilitarian ships that keep cargo moving. Among these workhouses is the Utilipede Transport, a cargo ship used by civilians and criminal organizations alike, from the Core to the Outer Rim.
Building instructions and a complete parts list are available on Rebrickable for $7.
New to Rebrickable? It’s the marketplace for custom LEGO instructions. You purchase and download a PDF, then use the included parts list to source pieces through BrickLink or your preferred parts store. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ordering parts.
Origin, Design, and Specs
This transport was created by Sienar-Chall, a brand that presumably resulted from Sienar Fleet Systems acquiring what was left of Haor Chall Engineering, after a Jedi-led clone detachment crippled the company by destroying their factories on Charros IV. It was equipped with a hyperdrive, had no weapons, and featured 3 cargo slots beneath its body. Larger versions were also produced, offering a total of 5 cargo slots. The cockpit was small, with room for one pilot, and a small area behind it for storage and a refresher.
Creating the Utilipede Transport in LEGO
Due to the very thin spine connecting the cockpit to the engines, this ship was very challenging to build in a sturdy way. After several weeks of iterations, and a variety of SNOT techniques, I arrived at this solution. It’s quite study and allows for all 3 cargo containers to be securely attached. The cockpit also features an adjustable seat and flight controls. When swooshing this ship, it’s advised that you hold it on the spine, rather than the top wing.

LEGO Building Instructions
I’ve created high-quality building instructions for you to build the Utilipede Transport yourself. You can find the instructions and parts list on Rebrickable, where you can then easily order the parts from third-party LEGO resellers on Bricklink. Instructions for the cargo containers are available separately, allowing you to customize the colors (they are seen in a variety of colors in the Star Wars Outlaws game).
183 pages, developed through a full physical test build. Includes a complete parts list for sourcing through BrickLink or your preferred parts store.
Role in Star Wars
The Utilipede Transport was originally created for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. A modified transport was used by Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs, for his traveling diner Tuggs’ Grub, which can be found sitting above Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.
“I’ve come to think of it as a ‘travelin’ diner for diners travelin’. Has a nice ring, don’t it?”
― Strono Tuggs
It’s also featured prominently in Star Wars Outlaws, in basically every docking bay and landing pad, used by civilians as well as criminal organizations such as the Hutts and Pykes. A modified version was also used by the rogue merchant, Shuma. I’ve also designed and built Shuma’s version, which can be found in my Docking Bay 4 MOC.
