TIE Brute (TIE/rb Heavy Starfighter)

|

The TIE Brute, officially designated the TIE/rb Heavy Starfighter, is one of the Empire’s most intimidating starfighter variants — an armored, heavy-hitting evolution of the classic TIE design. With its outrigger-mounted weapon pod, reinforced hull, and aggressive profile, it made a memorable on-screen debut in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Now, you can bring this rare Imperial war machine to life in LEGO form with my custom building instructions, capturing every detail in brick-perfect accuracy.

Origin, Design, and Specs

The TIE Brute — officially the TIE/rb Heavy Starfighter — is a formidable variant of the classic Imperial TIE design. Built by Sienar Fleet Systems in response to escalating threats from Outer Rim smugglers and pirates, it boasts a reinforced frame, a powerful outrigger-mounted artillery pod, and an onboard MGK-300 droid intelligence system.

The TIE Brute was engineered to intimidate as much as it was to perform. Its triple-laminate, quadranium-reinforced titanium hull offered exceptional resilience, while the outrigger-mounted twin H-s9.3 laser cannons delivered nearly twice the firepower of a standard TIE L-S1. A pressurized cockpit with full life support kept pilots battle-ready, aided by an MGK-300 integrated droid intelligence for precision navigation and targeting. Though it carried no deflector shields, the Brute’s reinforced frame absorbed punishment that would tear lesser starfighters apart—sacrificing speed for raw firepower and battlefield endurance.

Creating the TIE Brute in LEGO

This is the second version of my TIE Brute, with the first designed in 2021. It’s a fairly significant redesign, with a more accurate hull, redesigned interior, updated cannons on the weapons pods, and redesigned wings. I’ve even included a droid intelligence system into the weapons pod — although you can barely see it through the 1×2 transparent plate, you’ll know it’s there. This ship is incredible sturdy, and the wings will be interoperable with all my other TIE fighter variants, allowing you to mix-and-match them, or combine them with other of my ship parts to make your own Ugly.

Unique 3-in-1 Modular Design

I’ve designed my TIE Brute to be modular, allowing you to create 3 unique ships. I’ll be doing the same with all my upcoming TIE fighter variants, allowing you to mix-and-match them to create various types of “Ugly” TIE fighters.

Role in Solo: A Star Wars Story

The TIE Brute’s on-screen debut came in Solo: A Star Wars Story, during the high-stakes chaos of the Kessel Run. As the Millennium Falcon hurtled through the swirling danger of the Akkadese Maelstrom, a lone TIE Brute emerged from the pursuing swarm — its heavy cannons tracking, its outrigger pod swiveling like a predator’s gaze. It was the last Imperial fighter to keep pace with Han’s desperate escape, pressing the attack until a sudden Corellian maneuver sent it spiraling into destruction. In just a few moments of screen time, the Brute proved itself every bit the menacing “pack leader” of the TIE family.
